How to play at a Valentine's party

Read a question, everyone picks, and at least one person has to defend their answer. For the full rules and the year-round deck, open the full Would You Rather game. These Valentine's questions fit the slow moments of a party: while the cupcakes come out, while cards get passed around, or when the room goes quiet.

  • Put the phone in the middle of the table and pass it after each question, so everyone gets a turn as reader.
  • Start with Cards & candy or Sweet treats. Everyone has an opinion about the strawberry cream chocolate.
  • In a big group, send people to one side of the room or the other. The smaller side explains first.
  • Try a pink rule: whoever is wearing the most pink or red picks the next group.

For class parties, families and two at home

Every question here is clean and kind. There's no dating and no crushes, just cards, candy, friends and a very busy Cupid. That makes the list a good fit for an elementary class party as well as a family dinner or a Galentine's brunch.

In a classroom, put the page on the projector, read one question and have students stand on one side of the room or the other. Ask one kid from each side to explain their pick. Class party and Silly Cupid are the easiest groups to start with, and our classroom games have more ideas for the rest of the year.

For two people at home, take turns reading. Before the other person answers, guess which side they'll pick, and score a point for every right guess. Sweet treats and Traditions & decor are good after a special dinner.

More Valentine's Day games

When the group is warmed up, switch to a game with more movement. Our Valentine's Day games page has charades, Forehead Guess and Imposter with Valentine's decks, plus a plan for a 45-minute class party. For a game where everyone votes, try the Valentine's Day most likely to questions.

Questions

Are these Valentine's would you rather questions good for kids?

Yes. They're clean and use simple words, so kids around six and up can read or answer them. Class party and Silly Cupid are the easiest groups to start with.

Can adults play these too?

Yes. Friends & Galentine's, Sweet treats and Traditions & decor work well at a Galentine's brunch, a family dinner or a quiet night in for two.

Can I use these at a classroom Valentine's party?

Yes. Show the page on a projector or smartboard, read a card out loud, and have students vote with a show of hands or by moving to one side of the room.

How many people can play?

Two is enough, but it's more fun with a group. With a whole class, vote with a show of hands.

Can I play just the Valentine's questions in the game?

Yes. Use the player at the top of this page, or pick the Valentine's deck in the full Would You Rather game.
