How to play Truth or Dare
You probably know the rules already. This version just removes the awkward pause where someone has to think up a question on the spot. The game does that part, and it never plays favorites.
Everything here is clean. No 18+ truths, no risky stunts, no drinking. Just good questions and dares that get a laugh.
- 1Sit in a circle, or line everyone up on a video call, and decide who goes first.
- 2Choose a category: Classic (teens and adults, still clean), Family (all ages), Silly, or Video call (dares that work on camera).
- 3On your turn, tap Truth or Dare. The game draws one from that category.
- 4Answer the truth honestly or do the dare. Then the turn passes to the next player.
- 5Not feeling it? You can skip. Most groups cap it at two skips per player.
Truths and dares are shuffled, and you won't get the same one twice until the whole deck has been played. With about 400 in total, that's a lot of turns.
All truth or dare questions
Every truth and every dare in the game, grouped by category. Scan the list before you play, or pick your favorites for a party, a class or a team call.

House rules that keep it fun
A few agreed rules before the first turn save a lot of arguing later. These are the ones groups use most.
- Two skips each. Use them wisely. Once they're gone, you answer or you do it.
- Keep it balanced. Some groups ask for at least one dare for every two truths, so nobody hides behind easy answers.
- Group veto. If a dare could break something or wake the neighbors, the group can ask for a new one.
- Thirty-second rule. Start the dare within 30 seconds, or it counts as a skip.
- Points if you want them. The game doesn't keep score, so give a point for every dare completed and tally it on paper.
Ways to play
Each category sets a different mood. Pick the one that fits the room.
Family night
The Family category works for every age at the table. Kids love the dares, and parents get surprisingly nervous about the truths.
Silly mode
Silly is full of ridiculous truths and dares that make everyone laugh, including the person doing them. A great way to warm up a quiet group.
Teen hangout
Classic is aimed at teens and adults, but it stays clean. The truths get a bit more personal without crossing any lines.
Long distance
Video call has dares built to work on camera, plus truths anyone can answer from home. Share your screen so everyone sees the card at the same time.
When to play Truth or Dare
Truth or Dare works anywhere a group can see each other and has a little room to move. Pick the category to match the crowd.
- Parties: start with Silly to break the ice, then switch to Classic once everyone is comfortable.
- Family dinners: Family keeps grandparents and grade schoolers in the same game. Clear the plates before the dares start.
- Road trips: stick to truths and any dares you can do while sitting down. The driver only answers truths.
- Classrooms: Family and Silly make a fun brain break. The truths help a new class learn about each other.
- Team icebreakers: Video call and Silly turn a stiff remote meeting into something people actually remember.
- Video calls: share your screen, call out whose turn it is, and let the dares happen on camera.
Tips for a great game
- Keep it moving. A truth needs an answer, not a speech.
- Clear some space before the dares. Nobody wants to explain a broken lamp.
- Let shy players pick truth a few times in a row. Their dare moment will come.
- Read every card out loud, even when it's only for one person. Half the fun is the group's reaction.
- Skip without drama. If a card isn't right for your group, use a skip and tap again.
When you're ready for something different, ManyMini has other free party games that run the same way: one phone, no app, no sign-up.
How to write your own truths and dares
Once a group gets going, people start inventing their own. A few guidelines keep the homemade ones as good as the deck.
- Good truths are specific. “What is the last thing you searched for?” beats “Tell us a secret.”
- Good dares are quick. Anything that takes more than a minute stalls the game.
- Make dares safe and doable in the room you are in. No climbing, no leaving the house, nothing that costs money.
- Aim for funny, not mean. The best dares make the whole group laugh, including the person doing them.
Questions
Is this Truth or Dare game free?
Yes. It's free to play online in your browser, with no account and no sign-up.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Open this page on any phone, tablet or laptop and tap Truth or Dare.
Is it clean enough for kids?
Yes. Every truth and dare is family-friendly, with no 18+ content. The Family category is written for all ages.
Can you play truth or dare over a video call?
Yes. Share your screen on Zoom, Google Meet or FaceTime and pick the Video call category. Its dares are designed to work on camera.
How many players do you need?
Two is enough to play. Four to eight feels best, because everyone gets a turn before the energy dips.
What if someone doesn't want to answer?
They can skip. Agree on a limit before you start, like two skips per player, so the game stays fair.
How many truths and dares are there?
About 400, split across Classic, Family, Silly and Video call. Each category has its own truths and dares, and you can read them all on this page.
Do the truths and dares repeat?
Not until you've been through the whole deck. Everything is shuffled, so no two games go the same way.
