How to play Never Have I Ever with kids
Everyone holds up ten fingers, and anyone who has done what the card says puts one down. That's all a kid needs to know before the first card. The full Never Have I Ever game has the complete rules and hundreds more clean cards.
- Let kids be the reader. Each card is short, and reading out loud to the group is a job they take seriously.
- Use five fingers with kids under seven. The game ends before anyone gets wiggly.
- Ask for the story. A quick “When did that happen?” turns one card into five minutes of giggles.
- Grown-ups play for real. Kids love finding out that a parent once flushed a toy down the toilet too.
Ways to keep score with kids
Fingers are the classic scoreboard, but little kids don't love being out first. These swaps keep everyone in the game until the end.
- Points for yes. Everyone who has done it gets a point instead of losing a finger. Most points wins, so owning up is the fun part.
- Counters. Give each player ten buttons, dried beans or game pieces, and drop one in a bowl for every yes.
- Out means reader. When a player runs out of fingers, they take over reading the cards until the round ends.
- Buddy hands. Pair a younger kid with an older one, and they share one hand of five fingers.
Good times to play with kids
The game needs no board and leaves no mess, so it fits into the small gaps in a kid's day.
Sleepovers
Read the Play & sleepovers cards with the lights low. Whoever falls asleep first has already answered one of them.
Family dinners
Read one card between bites. It beats asking “How was school?” and hearing “Fine.”
Car rides
A passenger reads the cards. The driver answers out loud with “I have” or “I haven't” and keeps both hands on the wheel.
Classrooms
Five cards from the School group make a calm morning warm-up. Everyone answers with a hand, so nobody has to talk unless they want to.

More Never Have I Ever questions
Questions
Is there a clean version of Never Have I Ever for kids?
Yes. Every question on this page is written for kids 5 to 12, and the whole game on ManyMini is clean, with no drinking and nothing 18+.
What age is this list for?
Most kids can read the cards on their own by about 7. Younger kids can play if a grown-up reads, and older kids can move on to the questions for teens.
How do you keep score with kids?
The usual way is ten fingers each, one down for every yes, and the last hand up wins. With young kids, try giving a point for every yes instead, so owning up feels like winning.
How many kids can play?
Three or more is best, and a whole class can play at once. Everyone answers at the same time, so a big group doesn't slow the game down.
Do we need to download an app?
No. The list plays right at the top of this page on one phone, tablet or laptop. It's free, with no sign-up.
