How to play baby shower gift bingo
Gift bingo works like regular bingo, but the gifts do the calling. Each guest gets a different 5x5 card with a FREE square in the center. As the parent-to-be opens each gift, they or a helper say what it is, and every guest with that item on their card marks it. The first guest with five marked squares in a row, across, down or corner to corner, calls "Bingo!" and wins.
- 1Hand each guest a card and a pen before the gifts come out.
- 2Everyone marks the FREE square in the center.
- 3The parent-to-be opens a gift and names each item in it out loud.
- 4Guests mark every item they have on their card. A gift basket with three things in it can mean three marks.
- 5The first guest with five in a row calls "Bingo!" and reads the row back.
- 6The host checks the row against the gifts opened so far. If it matches, that guest wins a prize.
Keep playing after the first winner if you like. Second place, or the first guest to fill the whole card, can win a smaller prize.
What's on the cards
The cards draw from 75 common baby shower gifts and nursery items, such as Onesie, Diapers, Swaddle Blanket, Car Seat, Teething Toy, Baby Monitor and Rubber Duck. There are no brand names, so a square counts no matter who made the gift.
Each card picks 24 of those items and mixes them in a random order, so no two cards in your set are the same. Guests don't need to fill in anything. The cards are ready to play as soon as they come off the printer.
Add your own title, such as "Baby Shower Bingo for Maya" or "Welcome Baby Garcia", and it prints on every card. Choose 1 big card per page or 2 smaller cards per page. Both fit US Letter paper.
Baby shower bingo variations
Gift bingo is the classic, but you can change it to fit your shower.
Guessing version
Guests fill in their own guesses. Before the gifts come out, each guest crosses out up to five printed squares and writes in gifts they expect to see. No writing in the gift you brought.
Called version
No gift opening at the party? Check "Add caller slips" to print every item as a slip, or use Call on this phone, and play it as regular bingo.
Four corners
Mark the four corner squares to win. A good fit for a small shower with fewer gifts.
Blackout
Keep going until one guest marks every square. It works best at a big shower with lots of gifts.
Picture frame
Mark every square around the outside edge of the card.
Table teams
Each table shares one card. It gets guests who just met talking to each other.
The guessing version is optional. Since our generator already mixes the cards, guests can start marking right away unless you choose to play it.
Tips for printing and playing
- Print on cardstock, or hand out clipboards, since guests often play from their laps.
- Put a card and a pen at each seat, or next to the guest book, so guests pick one up as they arrive.
- Ask a helper to write down each gift and who gave it. The list helps with thank-you notes and doubles as the list of called items.
- Choose 1 card per page for big, easy-to-read squares, or 2 per page to save paper and ink.
- Keep prizes small: a candle, a plant, a box of chocolates or first pick of the dessert table.
- For a shower over video, choose 1 card per page, save the cards as a PDF and send each guest a different page.
More shower games on one phone
Bingo covers the gift opening. For the rest of the shower, our games run in the browser on one phone, with no app and no sign-up. One person reads out loud and the whole room plays.
This or That
Read two options out loud. Guests guess which one the parent-to-be will pick, then the parent-to-be answers.
Would You Rather
Read a question and the room picks a side. It is an easy way to get a quiet group talking.
Get to Know You
Shower guests often come from different parts of the parent-to-be's life. A few questions help them find something in common.
Try This or That, Would You Rather or Get to Know You questions, or see our icebreaker games. For bingo cards and card packs for other occasions, see all our free printables.
Who baby shower bingo is for
Baby shower bingo suits almost any shower: a big family party, a small get-together at home, a co-ed shower or an office shower in the break room. Guests only need to listen and mark a square, so they can play while they chat and eat. You can print up to 60 different cards at a time, enough for a large guest list.
Gift opening can run long, and bingo gives every guest a reason to watch each gift. For the host, there is no setup beyond printing the cards and setting out a few pens.
Questions
Are these baby shower bingo cards free?
Yes. You can make and print up to 60 cards at a time for free. There is no sign-up and nothing to download, except a PDF if you choose to save one.
How does baby shower gift bingo work?
Each guest gets a bingo card filled with common baby gifts. As the parent-to-be opens gifts, guests mark the items they see. The first guest with five in a row wins.
Do guests need to fill in the cards?
No. Our generator mixes the items, so every card is already filled in and different from the rest. Guests only write on the cards if you choose the guessing version, where they swap a few squares for their own guesses.
Is every card different?
Yes. Each card picks 24 of the 75 items and mixes them in a random order, with a FREE square in the center. No two cards in your set are the same.
What if the shower has no gift opening?
Play it as regular bingo. Print the caller slips or use Call on this phone to call items one at a time, and guests mark them as they are called.
How many cards should I print?
One per guest, plus a few spares for late arrivals. Pick the option just above your guest count: 10, 20, 30, 40 or 60 cards.
Can I print 2 cards on one page?
Yes. Choose 2 per page to save paper, or 1 per page for bigger squares. Both fit US Letter paper.
