How to play most likely to with friends

Start the game at the top of this page and the questions come up one card at a time. Pick a group, like Phone life or The future, or play all five together. Someone reads, everyone counts to three and points. Scoring ideas and the full rules are on the Most Likely To page.

Four to ten friends is the sweet spot. Bigger groups are even funnier, and pointing keeps the pace quick. Pass the phone after every card so the same person isn't stuck reading all night.

Use a secret vote to keep it kind

Some questions land a little close to home. For those, vote in secret: everyone writes a name on a scrap of paper and the reader reads them out, so nobody knows who voted for whom. The full Most Likely To game also has a Secret vote mode, where the phone goes around the circle and each person taps a name where nobody else can see.

  • New friends in the mix. A secret vote lets people join in before they know everyone's stories.
  • Obvious answers. When the whole room would point at the same person, a private vote sometimes brings a surprise.
  • Ties. If the vote splits, give each friend one sentence to make their case, then vote again.

If a vote ever stings, skip to the next card. The goal is a story you all laugh about later, not a title someone wants to forget.

Make the game about your group

The best rounds feel like they could only be about you. A few small habits get you there.

  • Ask for the story. “Why me?” is where the real fun starts, and the reasons are usually better than the votes.
  • Keep a list of winners. By the end of the night you'll have superlatives for the whole friend group. Read them out like an awards show.
  • Save the future ones. Screenshot The future results and bring them out at the next reunion.
  • Switch decks when the energy dips. The funny most likely to questions are pure silliness, and the game night page has more ideas for a long evening.

Questions

How many friends do you need to play?

Four or more works best, and the game gets funnier as the group grows. With three it still works, but expect a lot of ties.

Are these questions clean?

Yes. They tease habits and quirks, never looks, money or anything personal. They work at a sleepover, in a dorm or at a dinner with parents around.

Can we play over text or a video call?

On a video call, share your screen, read the card and have everyone type a name in the chat on three. Over text, paste one question at a time into the group chat and count the replies.

How long does a game take?

About half a minute per card, longer when someone defends themselves. Twenty questions fill a relaxed half hour.

What if one friend gets picked every time?

Rotate the reader, skip any card that piles on, or switch to a secret vote on scraps of paper so it feels less like a pile-up. Flattering cards like “be the first to cheer when someone shares good news” help balance things out.
