Ideas for what to spin

  • Where to eat. The sample list is a start. Swap in the places near you and end the “I don’t know, what do you want?” loop.
  • Who goes first. Put everyone’s name on the wheel before a board game, a card game or a round of trivia.
  • Chores. List the jobs, spin once per person, and remove each winner so nobody gets stuck with two.
  • Prize drawings. Classroom raffles, office party door prizes or a giveaway among friends.
  • Movie night. Add the shortlist and let the wheel settle it before the snacks get cold.
  • What to play next. Add Charades, Imposter, Truth or Dare and a few more of our free party games, and let the wheel pick.

Is the wheel fair?

Yes. Every slice is the same size, so every option has the same chance. The winner is picked with your browser’s secure random number generator the moment you tap Spin, and the spin itself just shows you the result. Nobody can time a tap to land on a favorite.

Want to tip the odds on purpose? Add an option twice. If Pizza appears on two lines out of six, it has a 2 in 6 chance of winning instead of 1 in 6.

Drawing names without repeats

Turn on Remove the winner after each spin and the wheel works like a hat full of names. Each winner comes off the wheel before the next spin, so you can set a speaking order, hand out roles or pick prize winners one at a time. The past spins list keeps the order for you.

Winners are taken out of the list in the box, so if you’ll need the full list again, copy it somewhere before you start.

Frequently asked questions

How does the wheel pick a winner?

The moment you tap Spin, the wheel picks a winner with your browser’s secure random number generator, then spins to land on it. Every slice is the same size, so every option has the same chance.

Can I give one option better odds?

Yes. Add it on more than one line. If Pizza appears twice in a list of six lines, it gets two slices and a 2 in 6 chance of winning instead of 1 in 6.

How many options can the wheel hold?

From 2 to 24. Long options are shortened on the wheel so they fit, but the full text is shown when one wins.

How do I stop the same option from winning twice?

Turn on Remove the winner after each spin. Each winner comes off the list right before the next spin, so you can draw names one at a time without repeats.

Will my list be saved?

Yes. Your options are saved in this browser on this device, so they are there the next time you open the page. Nothing is sent to our servers.

Is Spin the Wheel free?

Yes. It’s free to use, with no sign-up and no app to install.
