Dice games you can play right now
All you need is this page and a few friends. Each of these takes about a minute to learn.
Pig (1 die, 2 or more players)
On your turn, roll as many times as you like, adding each roll to your turn total. Stop whenever you want and bank those points. But if you roll a 1, you lose everything from that turn and pass the phone. The first player to reach 100 wins. The fun is deciding when to stop.
Ship, Captain and Crew (5 dice, 2 or more players)
You get three rolls per turn. You need a 6 (the ship), a 5 (the captain) and a 4 (the crew), and you can only keep them in that order: no captain without a ship, no crew without a captain. Hold each one as it shows up. Once you have all three, the other two dice are your cargo, and their sum is your score. Use any rolls you have left to improve the cargo, or stop. Miss any of the three and you score zero. Highest cargo wins the round.
Yacht (5 dice, any number of players)
A classic five-dice game and the ancestor of many modern ones. Roll up to three times per turn, holding the dice you like, to make a scoring combination such as three of a kind, a full house, a straight or five of a kind. Write down which combinations you’ve used, since each one can only be scored once.
Keep score while you play
Most dice games need a running tally. Open the free online scoreboard in another tab and add points with big buttons as you go. Need to decide who rolls first? Give everyone one die and the highest roll starts, or use the spin the wheel tool.
Frequently asked questions
Are these online dice fair?
Yes. Each die uses your browser’s secure random number generator, and every face from 1 to 6 has exactly the same 1 in 6 chance on every roll. Past rolls have no effect on the next one.
How do I hold a die?
Tap it. A held die gets a Held tag and stays the same when you roll again. Tap it a second time to let it roll with the others.
How many dice can I roll at once?
From 1 to 6. Use the minus and plus buttons to change the number of dice. Two dice cover most board games, and five dice cover games like Yacht and Ship, Captain and Crew.
What is the most common total with two dice?
Seven. There are 6 ways to make it out of 36 possible rolls, so it comes up 1 time in 6. Totals of 2 and 12 are the rarest, at 1 in 36 each.
Can I use this for a board game with missing dice?
Yes. Set the number of dice your game needs and roll here instead. The total is added up for you, and the last 10 rolls stay on screen in case anyone asks.
Is the dice roller free?
Yes. It’s free to use, with no sign-up and no app to install.
